The Normal Heart (2014)
Ambientato durante i primi giorni dell'epidemia di AIDS, il film è un racconto appassionato su Ned Weeks. Una commovente denuncia dell'ignoranza e della paura che portarono in tutto il mondo la piaga che oggi esiste. Il film è ambientato negli anni Ottanta - dal 1981 al 1983 -quando la malattia ha iniziato a colpire pesantemente la comunità gay di New York, città in cui vive il protagonista, lo scrittore/attivista Ned Weeks (incarnato da Mark Ruffalo). La Roberts invece si calerà nei panni di Emma Brookner, una dottoressa che è tra le prime a studiare attentamente quello che all'epoca veniva definito (in maniera discriminatoria) "il cancro dei gay". Inoltre, nel cast anche Alec Baldwin, Matt Bomer e Jim Parsons. A produrre, c'è la Plan B di Brad Pitt.
