Il serpente e l'arcobaleno (1988)
Un giovane antropologo dell'università di Harvard, Dennis Alan, si reca ad Haiti per scoprire i segreti che si celano dietro le strane teorie sul fenomeno dei morti viventi. Qui conosce la psichiatra Marielle Celine che, pur legata alla sua gente con tutte le superstizioni e i riti del voodoo, si mostra subito disposta ad aiutarlo nelle sue ricerche per rintracciare Christophe, un maestro di scuola con idee democratiche e con molta influenza sul popolo, che è stato reso zombie da un malvagio stregone. Dennis, sempre più affascinato da quel mondo misterioso e pieno di insidie, è deciso a conoscere la verità nonostante sia sempre più ossessionato da visioni orrende e da allucinazioni...
