Peter Hujar's Day (2025)
Peter Hujar’s Day, l’ultimo film di Ira Sachs, è un’opera minimalista e pacatamente radicale. Ambientato interamente in un appartamento di Manhattan nel 1974, ricostruisce una giornata apparentemente innocua ma in realtà rivelatrice nella vita del fotografo Peter Hujar (figura centrale della scena culturale della New York downtown degli anni ’70 e ’80), registrata dall’amica e scrittrice Linda Rosenkrantz. Attraverso le ottime interpretazioni di Ben Whishaw e Rebecca Hall, Sachs reinventa la sincerità dei loro dialoghi, restituendone l’umorismo tagliente e il pudore emotivo al ritmo pulsante di una New York ormai scomparsa. Hujar riflette sugli incontri avuti con Allen Ginsberg e Susan Sontag, sulle difficoltà economiche dell’essere artista e su una solitudine mai esplicitata ma sempre presente.
