Chiamato a dirigere il college di Huxley, da molti anni a digiuno di vittorie nel football, Quincey Adams Wagstaff (Groucho) cerca di assoldare due esperti giocatori (già al soldo della squadra avversaria come sabotatori), ma scrittura per sbaglio Barovelli (Chico) e Pinky (Harpo). Con i quattro Marx nelle retrovie (Zeppo nella parte del figlio di Groucho), Huxley vince la finale. Scritto da Bert Kalman, Harry Ruby (anche autore di musiche e canzoni), S.J. Perelman e Will B. Johnstone, è il più surreale, caotico e anarchico film marxiano nella sua satira della cultura universitaria USA. “Di qualsiasi cosa si tratti, io sono contro!” (I'm against it!), canta Groucho in apertura, e tutto il film, giocato sulla corda dell'assurdo, è sulla stessa riga antiautoritaria sino alla strepitosa partita conclusiva.
