Cat Thomas fotografo ma qualche volta anche portinaio, scopre il cadavere macchiato di sangue del suo amico Harry. Harry si è veramente tagliato i polsi nel bagno? Il repentino trasloco nell'appartamento di Harry, il giorno successivo alla sua morte, dell'attore Michael Manus, ed una strana conversazione telefonica che conferma l'interesse di Manus all'appartamento, rendono sempre più sospetto Cat. Con la sua amica Jane, Cat comincia ad investigare sul nuovo venuto: dove lo condurrà la sua curiosità?
