Per il diciottesimo compleanno di Jacey cominciano a verificarsi strani eventi: l'acqua diventa inspiegabilmente rossa, tornado compaiono dal nulla e lance di ghiaccio cadono dal cielo. Ben presto, Jacey scopre di essere la "prescelta", la sola che ha il potere di fermare l'imminente apocalisse. Con l'uso di un antico libro Maya e con l'aiuto del padre, dovrà capire come fermare i 12 disastri che segnano il conto alla rovescia per la fine del mondo.
