Il ritorno del kentuckiano (1949)
In seguito alla sconfitta di Napoleone Bonaparte nella battaglia di Waterloo, tutti i suoi seguaci francesi vengono cacciati dalla patria. Questi vengono accolti negli Stati Uniti d'America e iniziano a rifarsi una nuova vita, anche se non si vedono di buon occhio con la gente che vive da quelle parti: i kentuckiani. La signorina Fleurette de Marchand, figlia del colonnello Georges de Marchand, incontra l'affascinante John Breen, che si innamora subito di lei, benché Fleurette - per volere del padre - sia già promessa al giovane e facoltoso Blake Randolph.
