La trama narra di un presente alternativo in cui alcuni ragazzi chiamati kildren sono cloni destinati a vivere un’eterna adolescenza, senza mai invecchiare. I kildren vivono nella consapevolezza che ogni giorno potrebbe essere l'ultimo, perché il loro ruolo è quello di pedine in una guerra mondiale appaltata alle grandi industrie belliche che la conducono secondo gli ordini degli stati coinvolti. Il film si incentra sulla storia di un gruppo di kildren piloti di aerei della giapponese Rostock, l'industria bellica che combatte per la Confederazione europea contro l'americana Lautern. Nella loro ripetitiva realtà, apparentemente priva di emozioni profonde, qualcosa sembra però cominciare a cambiare.
