Convinto che è giunta l'ora di prendere moglie, Rodolfi mette un annuncio sul giornale. Molte lettrici rispondono all'appello meno Gigetta, la più carina di tutte, che non ha intenzione di sposarsi. Ma il padre della giovane decide che è giunto il momento, per la figlia, di maritarsi.
