San Francisco: un imprecisato giorno di un futuro non lontano il misterioso Toby Wong sbarca da una nave proveniente da Hong Kong. Toby sta fuggendo dagli emissari della potente Leung Corporation, e, appena sbarcato, è subito tallonato da un gruppo di malviventi guidato dal gelido Vic Madison. Coinvolto suo malgrado nell'inseguimento, l'ubriacone Malik si ritrova legato indissolubilmente a Wong. Con lui dovrà cercare di difendersi dalla violenza di Madison e dalle oscure manovre ordite dal signor Lau, capo della Leung Corporation.
