Matrimonio per colpa (1996)
Jack Lambert, un tranquillo professore di etica, scopre che il suo vicino di casa, il pensionato Max Muller, è stato in passato un criminale di guerra. Convinto che ormai la legge non possa più punirlo, Jack passa all'azione e lo uccide. Tutti però, compresa la polizia, pensano ad un suicidio. La cosa indigna ancora di più Jack che spedisce lettere anonime per spiegare il proprio gesto. Ad un certo punto appare una nuova prova che inaspettatamente dimostra che Max non era il famoso criminale. Schiacciato dal rimorso, Jack sposa allora Inga, figlia di Max. Da lei però, mentre sono in viaggio di nozze, apprende che le accuse erano vere. Di nuovo risollevatosi, Jack confida alla moglie di essere lui l'assassino del padre. Inga consegna Jack alla polizia e il professore si prepara a difendere in tribunale le ragioni del suo crimine.
