Rommel la volpe del deserto (1951)
Sconfitto in Africa, aderisce a una congiura contro Hitler. Scoperto è costretto al suicidio.Il maresciallo Edwin Rommel comanda l'Africakorps tedesco ed è ammirato, per la sua abilità strategica, anche dal nemico. Viene sconfitto a El Alamein da forze preponderanti ed è nominato vicecomandante delle truppe del Vallo Atlantico. Si unisce ai congiurati che attentano alla vita di Hitler il 20 luglio del 1944, ma il dittatore sopravvive e Rommel viene costretto a suicidarsi per evitare rappresaglie contro la sua famiglia. Avvincente nella sua struttura narrativa abilmente articolata, il film rende merito alla figura del protagonista (pur se nemico), sia come soldato che come uomo. Ottima interpretazione di Mason, sobrio e intenso nel ruolo di Rommel.
