Tre sorelle (1970)
Le tre figlie di un generale russo sono in attesa di trasferirsi a Mosca con il fratello Andrej (Derek Jacobi). Olga (Jeanne Watts) è la più anziana, sola e desiderosa di un amore tanto da affermare di poter sposare chiunque la voglia; Masha (Joan Plowright) al contrario sconta un infelice matrimonio ed è innamorata del colonello Vershinin (Alan Bates); la più giovane, Irina (Louise Purnell), si preoccupa della sua bellezza e delle giovinezza destinate a non durare in eterno. Il matrimonio di Andrej con Natasha (Sheila Reid) e un incendio in città porteranno alla luce tutte le loro delusioni.
