Sotto il regno di Edoardo VI, Sir Richard Shelton torna dalla guerra dei Trent'anni e scopre che il padre è stato ucciso da Sir John. Solo più tardi capisce che si tratta di un complotto ordito da suo zio, Sir Daniel Brackley. Tratto alla lontana dal romanzo omonimo di Stevenson, con buon ritmo.
