Prequel di “Stone Cold”. Estromesso dalla polizia di L.A. per ubriachezza, dovuta a un matrimonio fallito, Jesse Stone arriva nella cittadina di Paradise. Ancora mezzo sbronzo, accetta un incarico da sceriffo affidatogli da un sospetto uomo d'affari. Lo staff si dovrà abituare ai suoi eccentrici modi, come portare il cane in ufficio o risolvere una lite domestica a modo suo.
