Phil e Kate Starling assumono una babysitter dalla famosa agenzia Guardian Angel, di Los Angeles, affinché si prenda cura del piccolo Jake, nato da poche settimane. Entra così nella loro villa alle falde della foresta l'affascinante Camilla Grandier, che sembra essere una governante perfetta, sempre amorevole e attenta nei confronti del bambino. Ma ben presto Camilla si rivelerà molto più interessata a Jake di quanto non sembri: la ragazza è infatti un druido devoto ad uno spirito maligno che risiede in un albero e che desidera il sacrificio di sangue innocente...
