Uno dei classici della famosa produzione dello scrittore Hans Christian Andersen. La storia è quella di un simpatico anatroccolo che deriso e sbeffeggiato da tutti per il suo aspetto "differente" dagli altri, decide di abbandonare la sua casa sperando di trovare fortuna e felicità altrove. Nel suo cammino verso una vita migliore si unisce ad un compagno di viaggio, un simpatico topo. L'amicizia che nascerà tra i due li guiderà in mille avventure a volte tristi a volte divertenti, sempre comunque insieme nel bene e nel male. Una favola a lieto fine, splendidamente animata, colorata e ricca di superbe musiche.
