All’inizio del Ventesimo secolo, Lawrence 'Larry' Stevens è un ambizioso reporter dell’Evening News. Un giorno, mentre sta festeggiando con i suoi colleghi, chiede al suo amico Pop Benson che gli avrebbe fatto piacere poter conoscere le notizie prima che accadessero. Lasciata la redazione del giornale per continuare la festa altrove. Larry e i suoi colleghi s’imbattono in un cartellone che publicizza il chiaroveggente Cigolini e la sua avvenente nipote Sylvia Smith e così decidono di entrare in teatro per assistere allo spettacolo. Larry tenta di corteggiare Sylvia, ma, tornando sulla via di casa, incontra Pop, il quale gli comunica che lo stava aspettando per consegnargli il giornale...
