Evviva il nostro eroe (1944)
Wodroow (Eddie Bracken) è figlio di un eroe della prima guerra mondiale e corre immediatamente ad arruolarsi nei marines per servire il suo paese in guerra nel Pacifico. Viene però scartato per la sua allergia da fieno. Non ha il coraggio di dirlo a sua madre e ai suoi compaesani. Lo aiuta un sergente dei marines, che lo accompagna al paese e testimonia del valore di Woodrow in guerra. Il paese lo accoglie come un eroe a tal punto che il ragazzo è costretto a candidarsi come sindaco. Alla fine, preoccupato dalle conseguenze del uo gesto, decide di raccontare la verità: non è une eroe ma un riformato. Con sua grande sorpresa si accorge che i concittadini non si sentono ingannati. Anzi un vero eroe ha il coraggio di ammettere le proprie panzane in pubblico. Film esilarante mantiene un ritmo incalzante per tutta la sua durata.
