Un timido impiegato viene adoperato da una diva del cinema per far ingelosire il suo fidanzato. La notorietà della star fa del travet un personaggio famoso, vezzeggiato dalla pubblicità, assediato dai fotografi e dalle ammiratrici della diva. Gli arrivano non pochi grattacapi e una fama (che rimane anche quando tutto torna nei normali binari) di "amatore del secolo".
