Il ponticello sul fiume dei guai (1958)
Se non fosse per la bravura del suo partner, il coniglietto Harry, il maldestro Gilbert sarebbe un prestigiatore disoccupato. Anche in Giappone, in una tournée a beneficio delle truppe statunitensi, la situazione non cambia: Gilbert combina più guai che trucchi. Ma ha anche un cuore d'oro e si fa impietosire dal piccolo Mitzuo, orfano ma provvisto di un'affascinante zia. La presenza di Jerry Lewis è abbastanza esplosiva di per sé. Ma Tashlin si sente in dovere di aggiungere una trama, per di più con implicazioni banalmente sentimentali. Lewis non aveva bisogno di orfanelli giapponesi per colpire lo spettatore.
