Quando si tratta del suo lavoro, Carrie Tate prende ogni cosa molto sul serio. Ha dedicato tutta la sua esistenza a far crescere la Emerson Foods, la società di distribuzione alimentare ereditata dal padre, e non ha mai molto tempo per concedersi distrazioni. Sua sorella Kate, invece, è una ristoratrice e sta per sposare il fidanzato alla vigilia del Natale. Tuttavia, a causa di una clausola nel testamento della loro nonna, si scopre che la proprietà della società passerà nelle mani della sorella che si sposerà per prima. Carrie si ritrova dunque costretta a trovare l'amore e a sposarsi prima di Natale se non vuole perdere il suo amato lavoro.
