Non lasciarmi (2010)
Kathy H. è una badante che affianca i pazienti durante le donazioni degli organi. In un lungo flashback ricorda l'infanzia e l'adolescenza trascorse nel college inglese di Hailsham, l'amicizia con Ruth e l'amore per Tommy. Durante quegli anni i protagonisti vennero informati da una tutrice che il loro destino era già stato pianificato. Kathy si presenta con l'iniziale del suo cognome: 'H'. Questa mutilazione anagrafica (oltre che citazione kafkiana) prefigura già una privazione dell'identità. I tre protagonisti non accenneranno mai ad un'origine o ad un legame di parentela. Vivono questa condizione di orfani, assuefatti alla grigia e silente crudeltà di Hailsham, un college mengheliano che li riduce a polli da batteria per servire il progresso scientifico. Sono creature che non diranno mai 'io'.
