La ragazza di Spitfire Grill (1996)
Percy esce di prigione diretta a Gilead, nel Maine. Vuole rifarsi una vita e dimenticare il patrigno, ucciso per difendersi da un più che probabile stupro; nel paesino lo sceriffo le trova una sistemazione da Hannah, anziana proprietaria di una tavola calda per anime sole. In poco tempo Percy fa amicizia con le anime candide e pie a lei vicine per sensibilità e cultura tra cui Shelby, moglie bistrattata.
