Ogni anno, tre milioni di donne single si trasferiscono in un appartamento in America per la prima volta. Non sanno chi viveva in quella casa prima di loro, non conoscono i loro proprietari, e non si preoccupano di cambiare le serrature. Questa è la storia di una di queste donne... Dopo essersi separata dal marito la giovane e bella dottoressa Juliet comincia una nuova vita a Brooklyn. Il suo incredibile e spazioso loft sembra troppo bello per essere vero, e quando degli eventi misteriosi cominciano a farle credere di non essere sola Juliet scopre l'impensabile ... qualcuno la sta guardando. Misteriosi eventi le fanno sospettare di non essere sola nella sua casa e presto le sue paure diventano fin troppo reali. In una rivelazione agghiacciante, scopre che il giovane e affascinante padrone di casa, Max, ha sviluppato verso di lei un ossessione pericolosa. Un terrificante gioco del gatto col topo segue mentre Juliet combatte per liberarsi dalle intenzioni sinistre di Max.
