Dopo un colpo andato storto, la giovane e bella ladra Kat torna nel nativo Connecticut per le vacanze natalizie. Normalmente avrebbe declinato la disperata richiesta d'aiuto della sorella Savannah, bloccata alle Bahamas con il marito a causa di un volo cancellato. Stavolta, però, la prospettiva di fare da baby-sitter agli scalmanati nipotini potrebbe rivelarsi una tattica vincente: Kat deve infatti trovare un posto tranquillo e abbastanza defilato per nascondersi finché le acque non si saranno calmate, e la casa di famiglia ben si presta a questo scopo. Ma la ragazza non ha mai amato le festività, e perdipiù non ha un rapporto molto felice con i parenti...
