The Night the World Exploded (1957)
Un sismologo ha perfezionato una macchina per prevedere i terremoti e scopre che uno colpirà la California entro 24 ore. Ma lui e il suo mentore non riescono a convincere il governatore a dichiarare uno stato di emergenza. Si verifica un terremoto devastante, e poi nuove letture presagiscono altri terremoti in tutto il mondo. Lui e la sua assistente (Kathryn Grant) portano la sua attrezzatura nelle profondità delle Carlsbad Caverns nella speranza di determinare cosa sta causando la pressione e scoprono un minerale volatile precedentemente sconosciuto alla scienza.
