Silence (2016)
Nel 1633 due giovani gesuiti, Padre Rodrigues e Padre Garupe, rifiutano di credere alla notizia che il loro maestro spirituale, Padre Ferreira, partito per il Giappone con la missione di convertirne gli abitanti al cristianesimo, abbia commesso apostasia, ovvero abbia rinnegato la propria fede abbandonandola in modo definitivo. I due decidono dunque di partire per l'Estremo Oriente, pur sapendo che in Giappone i cristiani sono ferocemente perseguitati e chiunque possieda anche solo un simbolo della fede di importazione viene sottoposto alle più crudeli torture. Una volta arrivati troveranno come improbabile guida il contadino Kichijiro, un ubriacone che ha ripetutamente tradito i cristiani, pur avendo abbracciato il loro credo.
