La vita è particolarmente generosa con Tia McLealand: mentre la sua carriera sta per prendere il volo, incontra il grande amore. Purtroppo una telefonata cambia tutto: Nick, il suo ragazzo, è morto durante un'arrampicata. Ancora sconvolta dalla notzia e resa fragile dall'attesa di un figlio dal defunto compagno, Tia cede alla corte del ricchissimo John, che si rivela però un uomo freddo, poco appassionato e dedito solo al lavoro che gestisce senza scrupoli. Dopo alcuni anni di matrimonio, Tia inizia a nutrire un terribile sospetto...
