Diana, scrittrice di romanzi rosa, scopre che Maple Creek, un affascinante villaggio di pionieri, lotta per rimanere a galla. Decide allora di usare la sua notorietà per generare interesse nei confronti del posto e sponsorizzare un galà di Natale. L'evento permetterà ai visitatori di vivere il Natale come facevano i pionieri. Diana raduna amici e familiari per far sì che tutto vada come si deve ma si ritrova continuamente a essere sfidata da Carter, fabbro e storico del villaggio. Ben presto, tra i due voleranno scintille d'amore.
