Il giovanissimo Daniel vittorioso in una dura gara di "Karate", grazie all'addestramento fatto sotto le vigili cure di Miyagi, vive nella sua linda casetta nippo-americana. Profittando dei preziosi consigli e della impeccabile tecnica del venerato maestro di arti marziali, il simpatico ragazzo ha raggiunto un traguardo prestigioso, maturando con la nuova disciplina la propria personalità anche sul piano caratteriale e morale. Quando Miyagi viene richiamato nel suo villaggio natale presso Okinawa dalla notizia della gravissima malattia del vecchio padre, Daniel ottiene di accompagnarlo nel triste viaggio.
