John Carl Lowman, un criminale ricercato dalla polizia, ruba un'automobile e rapisce Amy Kennedy, una ragazza affetta da diabete. Megan Saunders, agente dell'FBI che ha un conto in sospeso con lui - che uccise il suo partner e fidanzato nel corso di una rapina - viene messa a capo delle indagini. La donna scopre che se Amy non riceverà dell'insulina entro dodici ore, potrebbe morire, e sarà l'inizio di una corsa contro il tempo per salvare l'adolescente prima che sia troppo tardi.
