Il prescelto (2006)
Edward, uno sceriffo depresso, viene contattato da una sua ex che gli chiede aiuto per trovare la figlia adolescente, scomparsa da alcuni giorni. Edward giunge sull’isola di Summersisle dove la donna vive e comincia a cercare la ragazzina ritrovandosi però, fin al suo arrivo, ad agire in un’atmosfera strana, omertosa e diffidente da parte degli abitanti dell’unico villaggio sull’isola i quali sembrano nascondere molte cose ai suoi occhi. Il poliziotto si troverà in una posizione molto pericolosa perché le sue ricerche lo porteranno a fare luce su un mistero che comprende rituali esoterici e sacrifici umani, diventando alla fine preda della piccola comunità che si rivelerà essere una setta religiosa neo-pagana improntata su un rigido matriarcato, simile ad un alveare.
