Barbara Hershey (nata Barbara Lynn Herzstein il 5 febbraio 1948 a Hollywood, in California) è un'attrice statunitense, conosciuta per la sua lunga carriera cinematografica e televisiva e per le sue interpretazioni in film drammatici, thriller e produzioni d'autore. Dopo aver iniziato la carriera da adolescente, Hershey ottenne i primi ruoli televisivi alla fine degli anni Sessanta, affermandosi progressivamente anche al cinema. Durante gli anni Settanta si distinse per la capacità di interpretare personaggi complessi e anticonvenzionali, partecipando a produzioni come Boxcar Bertha (1972) di Martin Scorsese, The Last Hard Men (1976) e The Stunt Man (1980). Negli anni Ottanta raggiunse una maggiore notorietà internazionale grazie a film come Hannah e le sue sorelle (1986) di Woody Allen e L'ultima tentazione di Cristo (1988) di Martin Scorsese, nel quale interpretò Maria, madre di Gesù. La sua interpretazione nel film A World Apart (1988) le valse inoltre il premio come miglior attrice al Festival di Cannes. Nel corso degli anni Novanta continuò a lavorare sia nel cinema sia in televisione, ottenendo importanti riconoscimenti per le sue interpretazioni. Tra i suoi film più significativi figurano Shy People (1987), Il paradiso può attendere (1987), Last of the Dogmen (1995) e Lantana (2001). Una nuova generazione di spettatori la conobbe grazie alla televisione e al cinema contemporaneo. Hershey interpretò Tese? nella serie televisiva Once Upon a Time, nel ruolo di Cora Mills, conosciuta anche come la Regina di Cuori, mentre sul grande schermo partecipò a film come Black Swan (2010) di Darren Aronofsky, nel quale interpretò Erica Sayers, la madre della protagonista.
