Lauren Bacall (nata Betty Joan Perske; 16 settembre 1924 – 12 agosto 2014) è stata un'attrice americana nota per la sua caratteristica voce roca e l'aspetto sensuale. Ha iniziato la sua carriera come modella. Apparve per la prima volta come protagonista nel film di Humphrey Bogart Avere e non avere (1944) e continuò nel genere dei film noir, con apparizioni nei film di Bogart Il grande sonno (1946), Dark Passage (1947) e Key Largo (1948), oltre a ruoli comici in Come sposare un milionario (1953) con Marilyn Monroe e Designing Woman (1957) con Gregory Peck. Bacall ha lavorato a Broadway in musical, guadagnandosi il Tony Awards per Applause nel 1970 e il premio Woman of the Year nel 1981. La sua interpretazione nel film Lo specchio ha due facce (1996) le è valsa un Golden Globe e una nomination all'Oscar. Nel 1999, Bacall si è classificata al 20° posto su 25 attrici nella classifica dei 100 anni dell'AFI... Lista delle 100 stelle dell'American Film Institute. Nel 2009 è stata selezionata dall'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences per ricevere un Academy Honorary Award "in riconoscimento del suo ruolo centrale nell'età d'oro del cinema". Bacall è morta il 12 agosto 2014, all'età di 89 anni. Secondo suo nipote Jamie Bogart, l'attrice è morta dopo aver subito un ictus.
