Chelly Wilson was een joodse oma die kerst vierde, een lesbienne die met mannen trouwde en een trotse eigenaar van pornotheaters in NYC in de jaren zeventig. Door middel van audio-opnamen vertelt Chelly over haar vooroorlogse ontsnapping uit Griekenland tijdens haar onwaarschijnlijke moederschap en haar opgang naar rijkdom als een gewiekste zakenvrouw in 'The Deuce', ook bekend als de beruchte 42nd Street in New York. Fascinerende archiefbeelden uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog en New York illustreren dit vermakelijke verhaal van een familie en haar matriarch, een echt uniek personage met chutzpah in schoppen.
