1943. Een vermoeide Winston Churchill probeert wat tot rust te komen in een Engels dorpje. Intussen krijgt Heinrich Himmler de boodschap 'de adelaar is geland'. Dit bericht houdt in dat een groep Duitse paratroepers veilig in Engeland is geland. Hun opdracht luidt de Britse premier te ontvoeren. Alles verloopt zonder incidenten. De in Poolse uniformen gestoken Duitsers worden in de Engelse gemeenschap opgenomen. Tot op het ogenblik dat een Duitse soldaat omkomt bij een reddingsactie en het duidelijk wordt dat de Polen in werkelijkheid Duitsers zijn.
