Rachel is een negenjarig meisje dat de perfectie zelf is, tenzij ze gekruisigd of uitgedaagd wordt. Verschillende verontrustende recente incidenten hebben Rachels moeder Christine doen vermoeden dat haar kind een latente moordenares is. Als Christine ontdekt dat zij zelf de dochter is van een veroordeelde moordenaar, raakt ze ervan overtuigd dat de lieve, kleine Rachel een 'slecht zaad' is: een inherente moordenaar die geen spijt voelt omdat ze niet beter weet.
