Wadd: The Life & Times of John C. Holmes (1999)
Wanneer Mark Wahlberg zijn broek opent als Dirk Diggler in BOOGIE NIGHTS, Paul Thomas Andersons weelderige portret van het pornotijdperk, staat de wereld om hem heen verbaasd over zijn overvloedige schenkingen. Er bestaat een concreet rolmodel voor deze figuur: pornoacteur John C. Holmes, die door de industrie met open armen werd ontvangen vanwege zijn 33 centimeter lange penis. Hij maakte vanaf eind jaren zestig ruim duizend films en werd een superster in een tijd waarin expliciete smerigheid op zijn hoogtepunt was. Later raakte hij verslaafd aan drugs en werd hij een crimineel totdat hij in 1988 aan aids stierf. De documentaire beschrijft de extravagante carrière en het wilde leven van Holmes. De film is vernoemd naar zijn populairste personage: privédetective Johnny Wadd, die Holmes in talloze films speelde, te beginnen met de gelijknamige film uit 1971 - een soort pornomisdaadserie die seks combineerde met een Sam Spade-achtige hoofdpersoon en enkele actie scènes.
