Poldark (1996)
In de beginjaren van de negentiende eeuw is het een grote chaos in Engeland. De machtige koning is radeloos en voert een bloedige oorlog tegen Frankrijk. Kapitein Ross Poldark raakt tegen zijn zin in de strijd verwikkeld. Zijn vrouw Demelza wacht thuis ongeduldig en bang op de terugkeer van haar geliefde. Dochter Clowance Poldark heeft een relatie aangeknoopt met de aristocraat George Warleggan. Als Poldark's zoon Jeremy na een schipbreuk voor de kust een man redt, verandert alles op slag. Drenkeling Stephen Craweson besluit bij de familie te blijven. Korte tijd later brengt hij iedereen in de ban van zijn bedriegelijke aard en zijn ongeremde passie. Het drama is compleet als de schuchtere Clowance voor zijn charmes valt. Dat drijft de jaloerse Warleggan tot het uiterste...
