Hortense Laborie is een bekende chefkok die in de Périgord streek werkt en woont, gelegen in de Dordogne. Tot haar grote verbazing wordt ze door de Franse president aangesteld om de keuken te leiden op het Élysée-paleis, de officiële residentie van de president. Ondanks de jaloezie van de collega-chefs, weet Hortense zich staande te houden en met haar authentieke kookkunsten weet ze de president te verleiden...
