Slave Island (2025)
Terwijl hij een zaak van mensenhandel onderzoekt, ontmoet de lokale activist Jeremy Kewuan een Maramba-sjamaan die sterk gelooft in zijn voorouderlijk recht op slavenbezit. In dit alles duikt een 8-jarig meisje op dat tot slaaf is gemaakt. Volgens de lokale traditie moeten de Ata-mensen generaties lang de Maramba-meesters dienen en, na hun dood, samen met hun meesters worden begraven. Met de hulp van een voormalige slaaf en via talloze confrontaties met slavenhouders, stamhoofden en zijn eigen overtuigingen… weet Jeremy uiteindelijk de vrijheid te bevechten voor het jonge meisje. Een kleine overwinning in de voortdurende strijd tegen mensenmisbruik, terwijl de Koningin van het eiland nog steeds honderden slaven bezit die wachten op emancipatie.
