The March (1964)
De film 'The March', ook bekend als 'The March to Washington', is een documentaire uit 1964 van James Blue over de burgerrechtenmars naar Washington in 1963. De film werd gemaakt voor de Motion Picture Service, een onderdeel van het United States Information Agency (USIA), voor gebruik buiten de Verenigde Staten. De Smith-Mundt Act uit 1948 verbood namelijk dat USIA-films in eigen land vertoond mochten worden zonder een speciale wet van het Congres. In 1990 gaf het Congres toestemming voor vertoning van deze films in de VS, twaalf jaar na hun oorspronkelijke release. In 2008 werd de film door de Library of Congress geselecteerd voor opname in het National Film Registry van de Verenigde Staten vanwege zijn "culturele, historische of esthetische betekenis".
