The Piano Lesson (1995)
In Pittsburgh uit de jaren dertig komt een broer thuis om 'mijn helft van de piano' op te eisen, een familiestuk; maar zijn zus wil er geen afstand van doen. Dit is een glimp van de omstandigheden voor Afro-Amerikanen, evenals enkele van de houdingen en invloeden op hun leven. Maar of hij de piano kan verkopen, zodat hij genoeg geld kan krijgen om wat onroerend goed te kopen en 'niet langer voor iemand anders hoeft te werken', hangt af van het verhaal (of de les) die de piano hem moet laten zien.
