The Keys of the Kingdom (1944)
Een jonge priester, pater Chisholm, wordt naar China gestuurd om een katholieke parochie te stichten onder de niet-christelijke Chinezen. Terwijl zijn jeugdvriend, ook priester, bloeit in zijn roeping als priester in een meer christelijk deel van de wereld, worstelt pater Chisholm. Hij krijgt te maken met vijandigheid, isolement, ziekte, armoede en een verscheidenheid aan tegenslagen die hem nederig maken, maar hem vastberadener dan ooit maken om te slagen.
