The Pirates of Penzance (1980)
Deze Pirates of Penzance is in de eerste plaats een historisch document, onderdeel van de televisieserie Broadway Theatre Archive. Het presenteert, met enkele onvermijdelijke, kleine technische tekortkomingen, een live optreden uit 1980 in Central Park, niet de gelijknamige film uit 1983 waarin ook Linda Ronstadt en Kevin Kline in de hoofdrollen speelden. Degenen die zich die film herinneren, die het voordeel had van heropnames en montage, een royaal productiebudget en de ruimtelijkheid van een Hollywood-studio, zullen deze video misschien minder gepolijst vinden. Op zijn eigen voorwaarden is het niettemin ontzettend plezierig.
