Tijdens het routineonderhoud van een ICBM met vloeibare brandstof wordt de brandstoftank doorboord door een vallende moersleutel. De film volgt de inspanningen van de onderhoudsploeg en het bijbehorende militaire en civiele personeel om de potentieel rampzalige situatie te herstellen voordat de brandstoftank voldoende drukloos is geworden en explodeert.
