'The Cathedrals: A Farewell Celebration' legt deze legendarische groep vast tijdens een van hun mooiste - en meest emotionele - uren. Deze video werd opgenomen tijdens een live concert in het Ryman Auditorium op de Nashville-halte van de afscheidstournee van de groep in 1999. De afscheidsviering, gepresenteerd door Bill Gaither, trok enkele van de grootste namen in de gospelmuziek aan. Getoond als muzikaal eerbetoon aan de kathedralen zijn de Statler Brothers, de Oak Ridge Boys, Sandi Patty, Guy Penrod en anderen.
