Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her (2000)
De film vertelt de verhalen van vijf verschillende vrouwen. Ze wonen in de omgeving van Los Angeles. Hoewel ze elkaar niet kennen, hebben ze wel iets met elkaar gemeen. Ze zijn op zoek naar ware liefde. Dr. Keener (Glenn Close) is een succesvolle gynaecologe, die in haar vrije tijd haar invalide moeder verzorgt. De ambitieuze Rebecca (Holly Hunter) raakt zwanger van haar getrouwde vriend en Rose (Kathy Baker) is een schrijfster die verhouding begint met een lilliputter uit de straat. Verder is er nog de actrice Christine (Calista Flockhart), zij verzorgt in haar vrije tijd haar zieke vriendin Lilly. En tenslotte er politieagente Kathy (Amy Brenneman). Kathy maakt nooit tijd voor wat romantiek in haar leven in tegenstelling tot haar blinde zus Carol (Cameron Diaz). Als een collega van Kathy interesse in haar toont moet ze er echter toch aan geloven. Hoewel alle vrouwen succesvol en intelligent zijn, lijken ze er allemaal moeite meer te hebben inhoud te geven aan hun leven.
