Het is voor Shirin niet makkelijk om deel uit te maken van de perfecte Perzische familie. Ze wordt van geen enkele kant geaccepteerd. Haar familie weet niet dat ze biseksueel is en haar ex-vriendin Maxine kan niet begrijpen waarom ze hen dit niet vertelt. Zelfs de zesjarige jongens in haar filmklasje hebben teveel ADD om zich meer dan een seconde op haar te kunnen concentreren. Wanneer haar familie bekend maakt dat Shirin's broer is uitgehuwelijkt aan een Iraanse schone, begint Shirin te rebelleren door onder andere panseksuele escapades, terwijl ze probeert te achterhalen waar het mis is gegaan met Maxine.
